Their journey

Jérémy Lavalade

All my decisions are based on three fundamental pillars: diversity, tolerance and entrepreneurship.

I have always been drawn to the profession of architect, for that rare demand of thinking aesthetics, technique and the human all at once. But I quickly perceived the limits of a profession where, for the vast majority of architects, creativity collides with standards and regulatory constraints far more than with the material itself.

After a scientific Baccalauréat with honors, I chose another way of exploring this tension between structure and freedom: business. ESSEC Business School particularly attracted me for its international and multicultural values.

I was able to build on the skills acquired at ESSEC by managing projects — some worth several million euros — in the Medical, Digital and Real Estate sectors. While I distinguished myself through my ability to handle Corporate Strategy and Management matters with rigor, these experiences above all revealed to me companies' worrying lack of sensitivity to environmental issues.

This realization led me to devote my master's thesis to the influence of the CSRD on greenwashing and differentiation strategies. This research allowed me to explore in depth how organizations reinvent their narratives, responsibilities and production methods when confronted with the demand for transparency and sustainability.

My constant desire for knowledge, my will to push boundaries and my ability to turn ideas into concrete actions have now led me to a new path: directing the feature film Harmony of Doubt.

Sensitive to the artistic worlds — highly complementary to me — of Jean Cocteau, Fritz Lang and Wes Anderson, I see my life as a true journey blending intellectual exploration, artistic discovery and an entrepreneurial spirit.

While this project took the form of a committed film, it above all represented a major experience for me, both entrepreneurially and audiovisually. After several years in consulting and corporate strategy, I am now certain: I want to invest myself professionally in the world of audiovisual production.

So, if my goal is to contribute to the transformation of our society, I am simply seeking to give meaning to a world that does not always have one. Harmony of Doubt is ultimately nothing but the reflection of this aspiration.
